Case Study – Full front of house renovation including new brick porch, garden walls and new driveway.

The front of this semi, detached property was looking tired and in need of a revamp so after our consultation to asses, the needs of the client and find out what they needed from the space we came up with the following.

A new brick built porch added to allow for more space when entering the house and the storage of shoes and coats freeing up valuable space inside the house.

After excavating the entire front area and removing the old hedges we built new garden walls with pillars which were topped with stone copings and then fenced with feather edge panels to give privacy.

The bricks were selected to match the existing extension to make sure the new building work blended with the existing building.

The driveway needed to be hardwearing as it is in constant use and also easy to maintain as the clients don’t have spare time to spend cleaning there driveway.

The material selected is a natural limestone sett cobble which is very hardwearing and looks fantastic especially when wet.

We ensure all our driveways our built to last and never sink and this drive is no exception.
A woven driveway fabric was laid and then covered with the sub base which is compacted in layers to ensure it is solid all the way through, we then add a concrete base or block mix which is also compacted and finally the blocks themselves are laid on a wet mix concrete bed, the drive is then pointed with a strong pointing mix.

All our pointing is done by hand to ensure the best possible finish.

Drainage for the driveway consists of a discreet drainage channel laid across the front of the house which then runs into a surface water drain.

This drive as with all our work is built to last, and as far as we are aware we are the only local company to have laid these fantastic limestone driveway sett cobbles.
